Not Every Spirit: A Dogmatics of Christian Disbelief, 2nd Edition, by Christopher Morse

To believe in God is not to believe everything. To trust everything without awareness of what is untrustworthy is not genuine faith in God. In a biblical understanding of faith in God, then, what is the role of the call not to believe every spirit? What disbeliefs does faithfulness require? Are there some things that Christian faith refuses to believe? If so, how do we come to recognize what they are? "The presence of faithful disbelief in the church," Professor Morse suggests, "gives the church's teaching and practice its timeliness in every cultural situation." Part One of his book therefore explores the notion of Christian faith as disbelief and how the task of "testing the spirits" develops and comes to be understood within Christianity as a theological discipline called dogmatics. Part two focuses on uncovering disbeliefs of the Christian faith concerning the Word of God, the being of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, creation, salvation, humanity, the church, and the life to come. Here, then, is a fresh and timely dogmatic text that will take its place as a standard work on Christian teachings. "Professor Morse's meticulous scholarship in this book convinces Christians to examine not only what they believe but also to give attention to what they are called to disbelieve. In today's world of turmoil, distrust, and violence, Morse's work challenges Christians to reflect seriously on what they are to believe and what they are to do." -Delores S. Williams, Union Seminary, NY Christopher Morse holds the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair in Theology and Ethics at Union Seminary, New York, and is the author of The Logic of Promise in Moltmann's Theology.

"I would recommend Morse to students who have no doubts about theirfaith and to students whose faith is constituted by their objections toit.— James J. Buckley, Loyola College, reviewing for Religious StudiesReview, January 1998 (from the first edition) (Religious Studies Review)

'Written during postliberalism's height and first published a decade prior to current philosophies and theologies of "the event", Morse's Not Every Spirit expertly delivers a concise, yet comprehensive, Christian dogmatics predicated on the notion of grace as event. For Morse, the Gospel is not a narrative in search of supplementation by human performance; it is something that happens, first and foremost. Accordingly, this book functions as a call to the church to stop acting and start witnessing — and for systematic theologians to put away the scripts and pick up the seismographs. It has fundamentally changed the way I think about, and do, Christian theology.' — Trevor Eppehimer, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Hood Theological Seminary. (Trevor Eppehimer)

'I have used several different introductory theology texts for teaching my basic courses, and Morse's book is by a good margin the most thoughtful and provocative. Although regularly invoking (in a way that feels neither authoritarian nor antiquarian) an impressive range of traditional voices, what is most impressive about this text is the way in which Morse manages to communicate a powerful and contemporary theological vision of his own without failing to give the reader a sense of the broad range of possible approaches to any given theological problem.' — Paul DeHart, Associate Professor of Theology, Vanderbilt University Divinity School. (Paul DeHart)

'Someone once said that most thinkers are either "clumpers" or "splitters", people who can think imaginatively and paint in bold strokes, or people who can think very precisely and analyze. Christopher Morse is among those unusual people who can do both. He understands the grand sweep of the gospel, of God's love poured out on a creation that groans in travail, and he knows how to help Christians think rigorously about what they believe — and what they disbelieve. Not every spirit is Christ's Spirit; sometimes the Church must say "no." It is part of Morse's gift to place such nay-saying in the service of God's truth.' — Joseph L. Mangina, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Wycliffe College, Toronto. (Joseph L. Mangina)

'There is no introduction to Christian doctrine that does a better job of equipping students to ask the questions that the church needs to ask about its faith and practice. By understanding doctrine as a reflection of what Christians refuse to believe about God, Christ, and the world around them, Christopher Morse offers a genuinely novel approach to systematic theology that is deeply rooted in Scripture and the life of the church. Neither trendy nor traditionalist, this book exemplifies a generous orthodoxy that provides unparalleled resources for disciplined yet charitable dialogue across even the most seemingly intractable confessional divisions.' — Ian A. McFarland, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Candler School of Theology, Emory University. (Ian A. McFarland)

'This is the finest one-volume dogmatics available in English today' — Kendall Soulen, Professor of Systematic Theology at Wesley Theological Seminary. (Kendall Soulen)

'For the many Christians who have a nearly allergic reaction to systematic theology, equating it with being authoritarian and closed-minded, this boldly subtitled A Dogmatics of Christian Disbelief can be a cure. Indeed, with faith comes many disbeliefs — such as a mistrust of authorities and an aversion to closed-mindedness. This book clears the ground of disbeliefs in order to expose those things we do believe, and treasure. My students, many of them experienced pastors and from a wide spectrum of denominations, typically approach this book with reluctance (it's thick and about dogma!), then reach its final chapters with real gratitude for the new trails in their theological imaginations it has helped them to discover, trails first cleared by our ancestors in the faith, as well as trails as yet untraversed.' — Kelton Cobb, Professor of Theology and Ethics, Hartford Seminary, Hartford, CT. (Kelton Cobb)

'Christopher Morse's Not Every Spirit is a most distinctive apology for Christian faith, a postmodern update of Aquinas, superbly combining the dogmatic tasks of Systematics with Ethics (the science of moral reasoning) for a changed and changing world. As a liberation theologian, committed to finding and publishing good news for the poor, I am pleased to have such a richly profound resource that recognizes Christianity's historic abuses yet allows me to explore its potential and actual role in establishing human worth and freedom on personal and collective levels, in devotional, private dimensions, and institutional, liturgical forms. One cannot help but be deepened by an encounter with the honest and honourable Spirit in Not Every Spirit. That Professor Morse's text is intellectually rigorous yet is readable and sensible makes his model method for doing theology in the twenty-first century and beyond.' — JoAnne Marie Terrell, Associate Professor of Ethics and Theology, Chicago Theological Seminary. (JoAnne Marie Terrell)

'The signal merit of this book, as studied as it is readable, is Morse's ability to draw readers into the innermost workings of Christian doctrines, displaying the connections and dynamics which enliven them. By engaging contemporary objections and clarifying those disbeliefs which positive Christian faith enjoins, Morse demonstrates afresh how the Christian gospel itself exposes Christian teaching to the most salutary criticism. That our faith requires theology, and that theology requires argument within, around, and for the sake of a better faithfulness — of these truths Morse is the most expert of teachers. And I can think of no textbook that so convincingly shows how dogmatics, by pursuing that better faithfulness, thereby serves the better righteousness for which Christians both hope and labor.' — Philip G. Ziegler, Lecturer in Systematic Theology, University of Aberdeen. (Philip G. Ziegler)

'Every chapter... displays Morse's profound competence as a theologian.... This has already proved to be a valuable text for courses in systematic theology.' — Charles M. Wood, Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. (Charles M. Wood)

'This is a really distinctive voice in current theology with an important fresh approach. Exploring the disbeliefs that lie at the heart of Christian faith in accessible, concise, and original ways, Morse proves the truth of his own maxim that a good dogmatics is the best antidote to dogmatism about both faith and morals.' — David H. Kelsey, Yale University Divinity School. (David H. Kelsey)

'Not Every Spirit is an outstanding introduction to Christian Theology. Christopher Morse creatively illuminates a wide range of crucial contemporary issues. Arguing that the Christian faith entails not only beliefs, but also disbeliefs, Morse shows the theoretical and practical significance of these disbeliefs in a provocative and insightful way. The result is a theology that is both critical and affirmative. ' — Francis Schüssler Fiorenza, Harvard University, The Divinity School. (Francis Schüssler Fiorenza)

What to believe, what to disbelieve...
By FrKurt Messick
One of the important elements of my theological education, and something that most every religious and non-religious person knows implicitly without realising explicitly, is that to believe anything carries with it the corollary that one does not believe the opposite. To believe that God exists, for example, precludes the belief that there is no God. To believe in one God precludes the belief in many gods and in no God. And so on...
`To believe in God is not to believe everything. To trust everything without awareness of what is trustworthy is not the faith in God to which one is called by the gospel.'
Christopher Morse, in his book `Not Every Spirit: A Dogmatics of Christian Disbelief', examines various elements of Christian faith and theology by approaching what it means not to believe certain things. Approaching theology as a practice of faithful disbelief, he examines the relationship of faith, theology, church, scholarship, and every-day life.
`The earliest Christians were persecuted not for what they professed to believe, but for their disbeliefs. Their refusal to worship at the imperial shrines is what identified them to the governing authorities.... Only Caesar preeminently could be Lord. The loyalty oath, the pledge of allegiance, throughout the empire was expressed in the words 'Kyrios Kaisar' (Caesar is Lord).... The confession 'Jesus Christ is Lord' represented a subversive claim. Entailed in the faith that Jesus was Lord was the disbelief of Caesar as Lord. The disbelief is what gave the confession concrete meaning and timeliness in that social context.'
In separating the wheat from the chaff (to use a biblical image), one can collect the wheat or the chaff, and through either process the two are separated. By taking a 'negative' approach, Morse enables the theological explorer a unique way of constructing a positive, meaningful theological framework.
Morse examines the topics of the Word of God, the Being of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, Creation, Salvation, Humanity, the Church, and the Life to Come, each in turn systematically, and for each in turn proposing disbeliefs that will help make the structure of Christian beliefs more solid. Taking the first item (the Word of God) as example, Morse proposes the following:
`Christian faith as affirmed in the doctrine of the Word of God refuses to believe:
- all spirits or teachings that either deny God's otherness, or that interpret God's otherness as noncommunicative.
- any claim that God from the beginning has withheld from the church truth that is essential to saving faith.
- any claim that God's Word can be confined and is not now free to speak wherever and as God chooses.'
...and many more -- in this particular example, Morse comes up with 17 proposed disbeliefs, and examines each in turn to better enable the reader/student to gain a firmer grasp on what positive beliefs mean.
Morse's book was used as a recommended text for the systematic theology course at my seminary, and a great many students used it as their primary secondary theology source. It incorporates a wide range of contemporary issues and historical ideas that impact theology, and presents them in a systematic approach.

Basics of the Christian Faith
By M. A. Oget
This is one of those books that could start real, honest dialogue between those Christians who are the buckles of the Bible Belt, and those Christians who believe in God in Her infinite Wisdom. Morse, working with a Thomist (read Aquinas)model, outlines those things which he believes to be central to Christianity, outside of which things there is no Christianity. You may think he draws the boundary too far out, or too narrowly, but he is clear, concise, and a challenging read. What do you refuse to disbelieve?

No Longer Living as the Gentiles: Differentiation And Shared Ethical Values In Ephesians 4:17-6:9 (The Library of New Testament Studies)

The starting point of this work is an observed tension in recent scholarly discussion of the ethical content of Ephesians 4.17-6.9. On the one hand, Ephesians 4.17-5.21 has been interpreted as drawing a social or ethical contrast between the addressees and the outside world, and even as encouraging or legitimating social withdrawal or separation from outsiders. On the other hand, the household code in Ephesians 5.21-6.9 has been read as encouraging integration into the wider society in an attempt to curb accusations of social disruptiveness. These social goals seem to be at odds, but rarely is this reflected on or addressed in scholarship. Upon a close and detailed study that utilizes traditional exegetical methods, comparative analysis and social identity theory, this thesis argues that Ephesians 4.17-6.9 exhibits a consistent strategy of promoting group distinctiveness while utilizing Greco-Roman ethical values and traditions to promote internal cohesion among the readers. In Ephesians 4.17-5.21, the author uses a rhetoric of differentiation to distinguish his readers from outsiders yet the ethics he espouses are commonly held traditions and moral values. The household code in Ephesians 5.21-6.9, which is grammatically and conceptually linked to the preceding ethical instruction (4.17-5.21), transforms conventional household morality into group-specific ethics to enhance mutuality among the readers in their households. Thus, the readers are encouraged neither to separate from society nor to integrate further into it, but to live and function within society as members of the ‘household of God' in one accord.

"This is a very insightful study based upon careful analysis of the social convention of the Greco-Roman world and a strong reflection on the theology of Ephesians... [Darko] asks the pertinent question: can the values promoted in the letter be normative Christian virutes for all cultures? That question remains, but at least Darko has put the exegetical basis for an answer on a firmer foundation." Journal for the Study of the New Testament Booklist 2009 (Kent E. [Darko] asks the pertinent question: can the values promoted in the letter be normative Christian virutes for all cultures? That question remains, but at least Darko has put the exegetical basis for an answer on a firmer foundation." Hacking the Human, by Ian Mann

Information security is about people, yet in most organizations protection remains focused on technical countermeasures. The human element is crucial in the majority of successful attacks on systems and attackers are rarely required to find technical vulnerabilities, hacking the human is usually sufficient.Ian Mann turns the black art of social engineering into an information security risk that can be understood, measured and managed effectively. The text highlights the main sources of risk from social engineering and draws on psychological models to explain the basis for human vulnerabilities. Chapters on vulnerability mapping, developing a range of protection systems and awareness training provide a practical and authoritative guide to the risks and countermeasures that are available. There is a singular lack of useful information for security and IT professionals regarding the human vulnerabilities that social engineering attacks tend to exploit. Ian Mann provides a rich mix of examples, applied research and practical solutions that will enable you to assess the level of risk in your organization; measure the strength of your current security and enhance your training and systemic countermeasures accordingly. If you are responsible for physical or information security or the protection of your business and employees from significant risk, then "Hacking the Human" is a must-read.

A very practical psychological thriller!
By Viken Derderian
I enjoyed reading this book far more than I had anticipated, it is a thriller and an amazing window into the humans psyche.
Hacking the Human is a book about Social Engineering Techniques and Security Countermeasures. It should be a must read to all Physical security management, and Information security professionals, I always thought it would be really hard to map the ISO27002 controls with Social Engineering and yet the entire book is written around the ISO27001 standards this alone is worth the price (little high) of the book.

The book is divided into 3 sections
.- The Risks
.- Understanding Human Vulnerabilities
.- Countermeasures
I wish I could tell you which section or what chapter is important so you don't have to read the whole thing, but I couldn't they are all equally important. Except for some deviations away from information security topics the entire book is like a Symphony by Mozart; Mozart's question sums it all up "Which few did you have in mind, Majesty? " when told by Emperor Joseph II "Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect."

You may say "....but I have read The Art of Deception by Kevin D. Mitnick (and William L. Simon)" which was a great book and also a must read to further learn the human behavior, however in comparison to the Hacking the Human they are totally different. Kevin does not dwell on standards simply concentrates on the brain's vulnerabilities, Ian on the other hand wrote the book as a manual for an existing Information Security Management System, he is even almost apologetic for headlining risks identified "which may not be fully ISO 27001 compliant risk assessment" as seen in chapter 12 - Testing.

I seriously recommend this book as a great Information Security learning tool. Can also come in handy for Poker players.

Best Fishes and thank you for reading.

Finally! A comprehensive book on social engineering
By Pekka Tetri
As a researcher of the topic, I was glad to find Mann's book on social engineering. It makes a significant contribution to the body of knowledge on the social issues of information security. This is the second book that has been truly devoted to social engineering, the first one being Kevin Mitnick's Art of Deception. Mann takes the issue further with his methodical and systematic approach.

This book has great value, as it frequently refers to standards such as ISO 27001, providing high industry relevance. The book provides a clear view to the topic with sublime clarity, explaining underlying psychological weaknesses exploited by the attackers. Hacking the Human covers all related topics on the issue, from explaining why social engineering has not received the attention it deserves to why your company is at risk, and more importantly, what you can do about it.

As we learned from Mitnick, people are the weakest link in the chain of information security. With Mann's Hacking the Human, you can make it the strongest one, the first line of defense. I gladly recommend this book to everyone interested in the topic.

Additional info that i didnt know before buying:
By Nesher
I have bought 6 used ones and 1 'new' one so far (for myself or to give away) so I will list them with BFBS codes as well as a short review of a downloadable pdf scan of one of these from 1903:

The BFBS-1987-2M-193DI has no coloring on the page edges and has less decorative covers (no indented design). Printed in Great Britain by Robert Hartnoll (1985) Ltd., Bodmin, Cornwall. The binding was fixed but not very well so I have to be gentle with it.
According to the biblesociety website this has the Authorized Version King James english and Letteris Hebrew. It seems this is a reprint of the 1866 version.
The Hebrew Letteris Text which seems to be a EDIT of the Second Great Rabbinic Bible (SGRB) (which is refered to as Ben Chayyim i think). This is somewhat dissapointing because i wanted the SGRB or the First great Rabbinic Bible and not a EDIT of the SGRB. I am still happy that this bible uses the Letteris instead of the seemingly less accurate (in my opinion) WLC or BHS Hebrew that most modern hebrew bibles have. Im not sure if Letteris is better than FGRB or SGRB but I am very happy with the vowels for Our Father's name, Yehovah (Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey) and I am happy how Letteris handled a situation where SGRB omitted 2 verses. I also like how This Letteris uses the original words (with vowels) in places where the masorets thought there was spelling errors in WLC. for example, in WLC you might see a word in a different font with no vowels then right after that you might see a word the editors assume is the 'correct' spelling (with vowels). So, the Letteris actualy seems to have less edits than WLC and is not missing vowels for our Father's name in the places i looked.
This Hebrew in this book has all the Cantillation markings it seems, and vowel points. It does not seem to have accent marks that look like this

Integral Economics (Transformation and Innovation), by Ronnie Lessem, Alexander Schieffer

Why on earth is economics perceived to come in only one or at best two different a-cultural if not a-moral guises? There are real, and many, alternatives to the economic mainstream. The trouble is, of course, that they are hidden from us. In Integral Economics Ronnie Lessem and Alexander Schieffer pave the way for a sustainable approach to economics, building on the richness of diverse economic approaches from all over the globe. By introducing the most evolved economic perspectives and bringing them into creative dialogue they argue that neither individual enterprises nor wider society will be transformed for the better without a new economic perspective. Here, they introduce a comprehensive framework based on the same 'Four Worlds' model that is applied to enterprise and research in their earlier works. Given the richness of even mainstream economic theory reviewed in this book, let alone the variety of alternative approaches introduced, it is frustrating that policymakers and business practitioners are impoverished by a lack of apparent economic choice - between a seemingly failing capitalism and an already failed communism. The 'villains of the piece' in relation to this lack of choice are not so much the financial community and governments, though they do have much to answer, but the schools of economics and the business schools, that have created the very social ethos, the philosophical principles, and the mathematical models, that influence events. Integral Economics is partly addressed to academics and students in those very schools, who have either realized the error of their ways, or, less dramatically, are curious to explore whether our businesses and communities could be run in a different way. It will be welcomed by informed senior practitioners, eager to understand the current rethink of economic theory and practice and to discover how to position themselves, their organizations, and their society within a new framework.

Review
'fascinating and inspiring overview of past and present alternative economic models.' - Jakob von Uexkull, Sweden, Founder of the World Future Council and the Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize) 'The extraordinary research Lessem and Schieffer have done is delivering the theory to one of the most important socio-economical truths. It is a lighthouse for people from all walks of life.' - Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, Egypt, Chairman of SEKEM Group; Founder of Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development; Winner Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize 2003) 'After reading this book, its contention that economic systems must build on local strengths seems self-evident and logical; but this just goes to show the genius of its authors since before reading it, such a bold, just and sensible economic premise was beyond the realm of possibility. Do read it and be inspired!' - Hafsat Abiola, Nigeria, Human rights, civil rights and democracy activist, founder of the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND) 'Integral Economics shows a way to revitalize the moral core of economics. It is for this very reason, that I recommend this book to everyone participating in the necessary task of renewing economics from the inside out, in theory and practice.' - H.E. Hala Bsaiso Lattouf, Jordan, Minister for Social Development, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 'While conventional economic theory and practice succeeded in keeping the majority of humankind in an impoverished and powerless state, a less recognized economic theory and practice which is an integral part of a living philosophy of the oppressed helped them to survive on this planet. Ronnie Lessem and Alexander Schieffer have to be commended for probing into and significantly evolving this unexplored field of Integral Economics, which is an area dreaded by most in their profession to enter.' - Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, Sri Lanka, Founder of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka (one of the world's most successful community economic development initiatives). 'I congratulate Ronnie Lessem and Alexander Schieffer for their excellent insightful book' - Swami Agnivesh, India, President, World Council of Arya Samaj; Member, International Peace Council; Winner Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Price 2004) 'The dominant model of economic thinking has become the biggest threat to the planet's health and human well being and survival. 'Integral Economics' integrates economics with the earth, with society and community, with life's processes and our creativity. After the wall street collapse it is time to look for a new paradigm. ' Integral Economics' provides the framework for the paradigm shift we need.' - Dr. Vandana Shiva, India, Philosopher, environmental activist, eco feminist and author "Integral Economics is unique in that it acknowledges the economic contribution, in theory and practice, of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, as well as Europe and America, while highlighting the role played by such social and economic enterprises as Grameen in Bangladesh, Sekem in Egypt, and Sarvodaya in Sri Lanka not only in alleviating poverty, but also in promoting a dynamic balance between different worlds. Mohammad Sahnoun, Algeria Founder and Chair of the Caux Forum for Human Security; former President, CAUX Initiatives for Changes; former special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the Organization for African Unity for the Great Lakes Region in Africa 'the lives of Chidara, Steve and Ronnie indeed accentuates that the transition from exegenous foundations to indigenous origination demonstrates that there is more to each than meets the familiar eye. The Da Vinci Institute is honoured to be included as a participant of this journey of self reflection and discovery.' - Professor Bennie Anderson, CEO of Da Vinci

In a competitive and increasingly internationalised business world, many companies rely on the high risk/reward ratio of operating in unstable areas. Those companies willing to engage in emerging or developing countries can often be exposed to a politically volatile environment over which they have little control. Political risk, therefore, is one of the most hazardous challenges that an international business can face. In A Short Guide to Political Risk you will find a business-centric introduction to political risk that will familiarise international managers with the concept and accelerate the learning curve towards proficient and coherent political risk management. Robert McKellar explores: the key political risks that companies have faced in the recent past, and current trends in the evolution of the political risk landscape; the concept of political risk and its constituent elements; models and approaches for assessing political risk; the principal options for managing political risk, and suggestions for organisational structures to ensure a coherent and consistent approach; as well as wider issues that a company needs to consider in developing its own attitude and philosophy on political risk. A Short Guide to Political Risk is an essential introductory guide for risk managers and for all senior managers concerned with their organisation's global performance and reputation.

Review
'While this book looks exclusively at political risk, many of the approaches, methods and measures are equally applicable to risk management in general. As such, the book's value is not as limited as the title may imply and it can very well serve as a guide for general risk management.' --Jan Husdal, husdal dot com

About the Author
Robert McKellar is Director of Harmattan Associates, an independent political risk strategy consultancy. Robert's interest in political risk stems from his childhood experience in Iran, when his family had to quickly evacuate in the course of the revolution. Since then, Robert gained academic and business post-graduate qualifications relating to risk in emerging markets, and studied Arabic in Tunis. Robert worked as an international strategy consultant for five years, before making the transition to political risk management, beginning with a two year engagement with Control Risks. While with Control Risks Robert worked on corporate political issues, and subsequently with the Governance and Development practice he gained experience on the ground in the Gulf, Palestine, and Afghanistan. Robert has assisted other risk management firms in developing their propositions in political risk consulting, and has undertaken assessment and training work for several multi-national clients and NGOs operating in volatile environments. He specialises in the definition of operational political risk management strategy, including holistic approaches integrating acceptance, security and risk transfer. His independent project work has taken him to the Middle East, North Africa, the Caucasus and SE Asia.

How politics influences business operations
By Jan Husdal
Every firm with a supply chain that sources globally or operates internationally is exposed to political risks that may be very different from what they are used to domestically, where political risks often limit themselves to de-regulations and re-regulations of business sectors, tax cuts or tax hikes or sudden environmental measures or security enforcements following major events or changes in government. On the international scene such and perhaps even worse changes can come abruptly and without warning, not because they cannot be foreseen, but because the firm usually lacks the tools and the knowledge it needs to anticipate and react coherently to political risks.

Considering the potential impact that the political environment has on how the firm can, may or should conducts on business operations, political risk management should be an integral part of any firm's risk assessment process, particularly if much of its revenue stems from international business. Political risk is a complex issue, and this book is only an introduction that illustrates the broad outlines, but nonetheless, it is an important book that focuses on operational and strategic issues that are not widely covered by other literature.

It is obvious to me after reading this book that no company can escape political risk one way or the other, not even in a seemingly stable political environment. The stakes may be lower in some places, but conversely, much higher in other places. Political risk is a business risk that should be considered along with the wide range of other business risks that accompany a firm's business endeavours. While this book looks exclusively at political risk, many of the approaches, methods and measures are equally applicable to risk management in general. As such, the book's value is not as limited as the title may imply and it can very well serve as a guide for general risk management.
